a quick preface

Before we dive in with content, it seemed appropriate to let you know what you’re in for~

scratch paper, name kindly offered by my dear friend Emeli, is meant to be a collection of longer-form thoughts, reviews, and ideas I’ve been cultivating over time. Like the name suggests, there’s little rhyme or reason on what I want to post or why, and this isn’t intended to be a curated commercial effort, just a way of documenting little seeds of annotations that sprouted into plants and didn’t have places to go.

It’s the stuff I scribble on post-it notes and in margins of books (sorry to the purists who don’t ruin their books) or try to put in TikTok form but can’t fit. Part of the beauty of scratch paper is its incompleteness by nature— I doubt I’ll have a coherent thesis to share because I’m always learning and I’m more of an armchair expert than anything else— I hope you see something worthwhile in these scraps anyways.

For the friends coming from booktok, this is almost all going to be book-related, but I might sprinkle in podcast recommendations and articles I’m reading, or references to things I’m talking about in school.

I want very much for people to reply and comment and talk back to me, or this might feel like letters to the void, so don’t be a stranger, but even if you’re a quiet lurker, thank you for coming along for the journey!
