we had a conversation a while back about the cyclical discourse of booktok and the shallow engagement with romance. i’m so proud that you’ve continued doing that work on substack— writing about romance with the grace, rigor, and passion that we felt was missing. what a lovely read.
There’s really no writing I like better when understanding absolutely no reference points than Sanj’s. All those things you give a lot of care and attention to, me just nodding along with “ah, that seems fun,” and continuing on unencumbered, happily seeing your brain work while I … maybe understand Chuck Bass slightly more…? but probably not.
Have thoroughly enjoyed your GG experience so far, and am excited to add Welsh Blades to my TBR! Have been in T Kingfisher land, and this sounds like an excellent next choice.
I’ve enjoyed the Saint of Steel series that starts with Paladin’s Grace. Older MCs, strange and practical world building, funny and very tender characters. Feels a bit more like romance inside a DnD game than what’s more currently marketed under a romantasy label? Really enjoyed them.

thank you so much friend!!!
Kinsale is a god among writers and no one can convince me otherwise
When I quit my job to pursue the romance author life, the FIRST thing I did was rewatch Gossip Girl. It is campy and stupid and oh-so-fun. No regrets!
I’m liking it so much!!
